Mission & Vision

My mission will be to create a stronger Washington by investing in the Yakima Valley. I am committed to a brighter future for our children and our communities. I will make all of my decisions by using evidence and listening to all of the voices of our Valley.  I will focus on the future of the Valley, and not just the here and now.

A.J. Cooper

I have been married to my husband for 11 years, and we have two children.  I have been incredibly fortunate to spend the last few years raising my two children, and hold a part-time job working with the senior population at the YMCA.  Health and wellness are very important.

The economic vitality of the Yakima Valley is directly linked to the health and quality of life in our communities. Our environment, our industries, our infrastructure are all connected, and must be developed in ways that balance our current needs with the future we desire.

Prioritizing local issues; for example, chronic homelessness among our youth, restructuring an outdated educational system, and updating our tax code to provide relief to our small businesses. My main objective will be to protect our Valley’s environment, create an atmosphere to attract tourists and businesses, and ensure quality affordable housing for the Valley’s citizens.
